The Newman Numismatic Portal (NNP) has uploaded a Second World War exhibit mounted last June at Washington University’s Olin Library focusing on the letters of Walter Goldschmidt, a German-born U.S. citizen who served under the Allies.
Dubbed “Stories from World War II,” the exhibit features a selection of war-time concentration and internment camp money loaned by Steve and Ray Feller plus several war bonds from the collection of Joe Boling. The material is now scanned and freely viewable on the NNP.
“Visitors may also view the Newman copy of the Declaration of Independence, a rare, early broadside example from Rhode Island, which is on permanent display at the library, according to NNP project co-ordinator Len Augsburger.

A free online numismatic archive and encyclopedia, the NNP holdings reached the five-million-page mark this March. It’s funded by the Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
