‘Women in Numismatics’ to dissolve this year

After 31 years in operation, the U.S.-based group Women in Numismatics (WIN) will dissolve effective Dec. 31.

According to a June 16 announcement, WIN “has accomplished its mission and achieved the goals it set for itself” when it formed in 1991 as a non-profit organization serving female numismatists.

“Members included new and established collectors, dealers and those associated with numismatic-related organizations. WIN encouraged fellowship among its members and promoted education through guest speakers and informative presentations,” added the recent statement from WIN, which also offered an annual scholarship to the American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) Summer Seminar.

WIN will host its final meeting during the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money on Aug. 17 in Rosemont, Ill., a suburb of Chicago.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have been a member the last 4 years and enjoyed the magazine. When I joined I was the only Canadian member, which was pretty neat. We need to encourage more female numismatists, so all you ladies…… reach out to your friends, and promote the hobby! Woo!
