The Week in Shows (April 22-28)

There are eight major shows on the numismatic docket this week.

Today is the last day of the 56th Annual Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) Convention, which is being held at the Holiday Inn on 30 Fairway Rd. S. in Kitchener, Ont. The bourse will be open from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information about the 2018 ONA Convention, click here.

The final day of the Regina Coin Club Spring Show and Sale is also today at the Turvey Centre on 100 Armour Rd. in Regina, Sask. Hosted by the Regina Coin Club, the show will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and admission is $3 (or free for children aged 12 and under). Highlights include a display featuring a set of unissued 1937 Bank of Canada bilingual $1 banknotes depicting King Edward VIII—the only known examples of Canadian currency with a portrait of Edward VIII in private hands. The display will also include a die proof vignette of Edward VIII used to make the tintype proofs. Today is also the last day of the Gold and Silver Expo, which is being hosted by the Buffalo Numismatic Association at the Hamburg Fairgrounds on 5820 South Park Ave. in Hamburg, N.Y.—only about 30 minutes from the Canada-U.S. border in Fort Erie, Ont. The show features exhibits, seminars and more than 80 tables with dealers from several U.S. states. Admission is $2.
