The Canadian Numismatic Company (TCNC) is set to host its 2024 Fall Sale, a massive auction event featuring more than 2,100 numismatic lots from consignors across North America.
Auctioneer Marc Verret described the sale as “one of the most active numismatic events of the year,” featuring a diverse selection of coins, banknotes, tokens, medals and bulk lots.
“This auction includes several impressive collections, joined by items from 82 other consignors across North America,” said Verret. “In addition to the usual assortment of Canadian coins and banknotes, bidders will also find tokens, medals, U.S. and world coins, and banknotes, as well as some unique and diverse items not often seen at auction.”
The majority of the lots have opening bids below $200.
Verret highlighted the excitement surrounding this sale, which is expected to generate significant interest from collectors. “We’re calling this a ‘fun’ sale event,” Verret added. “With so many intriguing lots, this auction promises thrilling moments and lively evenings of bidding.”
The auction will take place over six sessions, all starting at 7 p.m. EDT. The first session, on Oct. 20, will feature Lots 1-269, focusing on paper money. The second session, on Oct. 21, will continue with paper money, covering Lots 270-559.
On Oct. 22, the third session will showcase Royal Canadian Mint coins, with Lots 560-874 available for bidding. The fourth session, scheduled for Oct. 23, will highlight errors, cents, and five-cent pieces, featuring Lots 875-1339. The fifth session, on Oct. 24, will cover 10-cent through 50-cent pieces, with Lots 1340-1752.
The final session, on Oct. 25, will offer an exciting array of items, including dollars, toonies, tokens, medals, watches, world coins and banknotes. This concluding session will feature Lots 1753-2138, wrapping up the week’s auction events.
In addition to the six sessions, TCNC is offering viewing appointments for interested collectors. Appointments are available Oct. 18-19 at TCNC’s Quebec offices, allowing clients to preview items in person.
Verret expressed gratitude to the consignors for entrusting TCNC with their collections.
“We’ve worked hard to create a catalogue we believe collectors will truly enjoy, and we hope the bidders will have as much fun as we did in assembling it,” he said.
TCNC remains optimistic about the numismatic market, supported by strong recent performances in both local and international auctions.
“Our outlook for the market remains positive, reinforced by excellent results in recent auctions, including record prices achieved at major events over the last few weeks,” Verret noted.
Confident that this auction will be a standout event in Canada’s numismatic community, Verret concluded, “This auction will be unlike any other seen in this country.”
With its wide range of offerings and the excitement building among collectors, the 2024 Fall Sale is expected to set new benchmarks and continue the trend of strong market performance.
