Collectors can expect to find various treasures at the Simcoe Currency Club’s inaugural Coin Show this Sunday, May 26, in Cookstown, Ont., including “great coins’ such as a 1947 Maple Leaf Silver Dollar, a 1921 five-cent silver, and an 1870 Victoria 50-cent ‘no LCW’, as highlighted in the club’s ad in Canadian Coin News.
The club, founded last October with an initial gathering of 10 members, aims to fill a void in the local area, as noted by co-organizers Cassidy Stroud and Bill Bischoff.
The show will be held at the Cookstown Club at 18 Church Street (Hwy 89) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is just $2, inclusive of complimentary parking and the chance to win enticing door prizes. Young coin enthusiasts under 18 can attend for free.
Adding to the allure, the event will feature captivating “coin displays” for attendee voting. Central to the event are numerous coin dealers offering over 45 tables with a diverse array of Canadian and worldwide coins, banknotes, tokens, medals, and more. The dealers will also be available to assess and purchase collections of any size.
