Regina Coin Club Newsletter marks 61 years

This February, the Regina Coin Club (RCC) will mark the 61st anniversary of its RCC Newsletter, which it first published more than six decades ago in February 1961.

Martin Watts, one of the club’s founding members and the head of its publicity committee, edited the inaugural one-page newsletter, which was distributed by Dale Murray, then the club’s secretary-treasurer.

Late last year, RCC Secretary Troy Zimmer, who also serves as the newsletter’s assistant layout editor, redesigned the publication, which is issued between eight and 10 times a year.

A group of Regina coin collectors met on Jan. 23, 1953, to discuss forming a new chapter of what was then known as the Canadian Numismatic Association (now the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association).
