RCNA virtual webinars start this weekend

As a warm-up to its 2023 Convention in Halifax, the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) is offering five webinars over the two weekends leading up to the July 19-23 gathering in Nova Scotia.

Convention Chair James Williston says the virtual seminars “will give everyone a taste of what the convention is about.”

Five webinars will be held over the weekends of July 8-9 and July 15-16. Here is the schedule for the four symposiums, including registration links. All times shown are EDT, and the presentations are open to anyone.

Saturday, July 8th at 2 p.m. EDT

Serge Pelletier will present two sessions, one in English and the other in French

Pelletier’s presentation is on ‘The Anglo-Saxon Coinage of the Heptarchy and of the Last Kingdom’.

This presentation is inspired by the Netflix series: The Last Kingdom.

There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

Sunday, July 9th at 2 p.m. EDT

Dealers Forum  Four well-known Canadian Numismatic Dealers from across Canada will take part in a Panel Discussion.

Andy McKaig (Calgary, Alta.), Greg Jones (Halifax, N.S.), Clement Chapados-Girard (Levi, Que.) and Howard Engel (Winnipeg, Man.)

They will discuss the everyday life of a numismatic dealer and their history and how they became a dealer.

There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

introduce the viewers to some of the people who were instrumental in its creation and development.

Collectors Corner:  Four Collectors from across Canada will take part in a panel discussion.

Dan Gosling (Ardrossan, Alta.), Mike Sousa (Vancouver, B.C.), Cassidy Stroud (Barrie, Ont.) and Francois Rufiange (Quebec City, Que).

Each collector will discuss their history and how they got involved in the hobby and what areas of numismatic collecting interests them.

There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
