In a rare opportunity, the presidents of the Canadian and American numismatic associations will be among the guest speakers at the 2024 Joint Forum, sponsored by the California State Numismatic Association and the Northern California Numismatic Association.
Scheduled for Nov. 13 at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum in Vallejo, Calif., the event will feature five distinguished presenters, including Bill O’Brien, president of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA), and Tom Uram, president of the American Numismatic Association (ANA). O’Brien will speak on “Geographic representation on Canadian paper money,” while Uram’s presentation will focus on “Morse code on coins.”
“This is a rare opportunity that the two current ANA and RCNA presidents would be together,” states a description of the forum published in the newsletter, NCNA Heads and Tales. Other presenters include Pat Carpenter of the Sacramento Valley Coin Club, who will discuss “United States fractional currency,” and Jeff Shevlin and Bill Hyder, members of the Pacific Coast Numismatic Society, who will share a presentation on “Promoting numismatics via writing and fellowship.”
“This is an exemplary assemblage of presenters and programs,” adds the newsletter. Fred van den Haak of Belmont, Calif., will serve as moderator, while Michael Turrini is the Joint Forum’s co-ordinator. Numismatic enthusiasts are encouraged to attend this unique event, which promises a wealth of knowledge and insight from some of the most respected figures in the field.
