RCM coin exchange opens Friday at Alberta mall

The Royal Canadian Mint is holding a coin exchange featuring the recently released circulation coin honouring the late Queen Elizabeth II this weekend at an Alberta mall.

The exchange occurs Friday and Saturday at the CrossIron Mills Mall in Rocky View, Alta.

Dated 2022, the new $2 coin features a black outer ring serving as a mourning band to honour the queen’s more than 70-year reign. It bears all the traditional design elements of a standard $2 coin and nearly five million coins began circulating in December.

The public can trade their Canadian change for two coins a person while supplies last. The exchange, near the mall’s guest services, opens at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24 and runs until 7 p.m. before reopening the following day from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

For further details, contact the mall at 1-877-646-5303.
