RCM ‘rethinking’ numismatic business

Some exciting revelations were revealed about the Royal Canadian Mint’s numismatic line in CCN’s first interview with newly appointed President and CEO Marie Lemay, whose first day at the helm of the Crown corporation was Feb. 18.

“We’re rethinking our numismatic business. We want to be more centred on what our clients and customers want, and we’ll have more to talk about soon,” said Lemay, referencing this summer’s Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Convention, which she will attend when it comes to Calgary, Alta., on July 16-20.

“I’m looking forward to meeting collectors because I haven’t had a chance yet,” she said, adding she will also attend some of the Mint’s “Masters Club” events being held across the country this year “to have a chance to meet people and get a sense of the community.”

Regarding the reimagined numismatic line, Lemay said: “It’s pretty exciting – there will be a lot of changes – and I hope people will see it that way. I think they will because we’ve been listening and really taking their input to try to change the program so it really fits what collectors are looking for.”
