RCM releases statement on future of country’s coinage

With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Canadian Mint said it will “continue to meet all existing customer commitments while complying with royal succession protocols.”

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the Mint highlighted its “comprehensive plan to keep serving our customers as we go through this historic change.”

“This plan is designed to minimize disruption to you and to the Mint, which means that all existing series and subscriptions will be honoured.”

The statement continued, “We are naturally cooperating with the Government of Canada to begin the transition to a new obverse for all Canadian coins. In the meantime, we have also developed a plan to commemorate Her Majesty’s historic reign and we will share details as soon as possible.”
