Popular Edmonton Coin Show opens Sept. 21

The eagerly awaited Edmonton Coin Show is set to take place this weekend.

Collectors, dealers, and enthusiasts from across the country will converge for a weekend full of exciting coin displays, auctions, and opportunities to explore rare and valuable numismatic items.

The two-day event will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, offering something for collectors of all ages and levels of experience. Admission is $5 at the door, with free entry for youth under 16. Attendees will have access to over 60 dealer and vendor tables featuring a broad range of collectibles, including Canadian, U.S., and world coins, ancient and medieval coins, paper money, tokens, medals, bullion, and collecting supplies.

In addition to coins, the Edmonton Watch Club will be present to provide appraisals and information on pocket watches, wristwatches, and other timepieces, both modern and antique.

The show will also offer educational coin and medal displays, as well as free evaluations and appraisals of coins, paper money, currency, tokens, medals, and timepieces.

A major highlight of the weekend is the Edmonton Numismatic Society’s Silent Auction, where more than 200 auction lots will be available to bid on. Show attendees are encouraged to stop by the silent auction tables to view the lots, and bidding will be open throughout the weekend.

For young collectors, the Edmonton Coin Show will host a Youth Coin Auction on Sept. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This free event offers a fun, no-pressure introduction to coin collecting and auctions. Participants must register by 11 a.m. at the admission desk, and parents are welcome to join in the experience. The auction will provide catalogues and play money for bidding, ensuring an engaging, hands-on learning opportunity for young numismatists.

In addition to the numismatic offerings, the Edmonton Numismatic Society has partnered with Edmonton’s Food Bank to collect donations during the show. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or monetary donations, which can be dropped off at the admissions table to help support one of the region’s most vital social services.

The Central Lions Centre, easily accessible via public transport from the nearby Kingsway Mall transit hub, offers free parking for attendees. The full-service “Ela Euro Restaurant” will be open on-site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days for those looking to grab a meal between browsing the show’s many attractions.

The Edmonton Coin Show will be held at the Central Lions Centre, located at 11113 113th St NW, Edmonton, Alta.  For more details, including the event floor plan and vendor list, visit the Edmonton Numismatic Society’s website.
