James Sego, founder and president of JMS Coins in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has been appointed the new president of the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG) for the 2024-2026 term.
“James has served with distinction on the PNG board of directors for seven years. He is an accomplished business executive who understands the numismatic hobby, profession, and marketplace,” stated PNG Executive Director John Feigenbaum.
Sego expressed his gratitude, saying, “Being elected president is the greatest honor in my coin career. I look forward to the progress our team can make over the next two years.”
Other PNG officers for the 2024-2026 term are Vice President John Brush of David Lawrence Rare Coins; Treasurer William J. Gale; and Secretary Dustin Johnston of Heritage Auctions. Board members include Greg Allen, Jeff Garrett, Wayde Milas, Don Rinkor, and Andrew Salzberg.
“Under PNG Bylaws, member-dealers elect the board members, who then select the officers from within their group,” explained Feigenbaum. “I’m excited about Sego as the new PNG President, respected for his numismatic knowledge ranging from classic coins to the modern era.”
Sego outlined three main goals: represent the PNG as the premier organization for coin dealers, create more value for members through marketing and tangible benefits, and focus on education, particularly the nexGen program for young coin dealers.
Founded in 1955, the PNG is a nonprofit organization composed of top rare coin and paper money experts. Members adhere to a strict code of ethics and guarantee the authenticity of the items they sell. The PNG mission is: Ensuring integrity, instilling confidence, and promoting professionalism for the benefit of all numismatic collectors and professionals. There are three PNG membership categories: Gold for full-time dealers; Gold Associate for their employees; and Silver for non-dealers involved in numismatic-related projects. A directory of PNG member-dealers is available online at PNG Member Directory.
