A pair of metal detectorists from Hamilton, Ont., launched the city’s first museum of metal detecting with a one-day pop-up event in late January.
Mike Guarascia and Gary Wright held the exhibition on Jan. 28 at the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Veterans Association building on the city’s east side.
“There are so many detectorists out there who know each other online but have never met in person,” said Guarascia. “So I thought, ‘Why don’t we all get together and show our relics?”
The museum featured coins, rings, musket balls, pioneer axe heads, horseshoes and an array of other relics discovered in the ground across Southern Ontario.
