Ontario illustrator Emily Damstra inks PCGS label-signing deal

Ontario-based artist and coin designer Emily Damstra, who specializes in science illustration, recently signed an exclusive insert label signature deal with the U.S.-based Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).

A designer of coins for the Royal Canadian Mint (as well as stamps for Canada Post) Damstra also has 11 unique U.S. design credits to her name, including the 2019-W Idaho “River of No Return” quarter. Two of her designs have won “Coin of the Year” awards, including Canada’s 2014 Fine silver coin, “Maple Canopy: Autumn Allure.”

“The recent designs from Emily Damstra have made an impressive mark on U.S. coinage,” said PCGS President Brett Charville. “She achieves what few designers can; salient images that carry the art of storytelling.”

Damstra added she’s “honoured to work with PCGS to deliver hand-signed labels uniquely paired with the coins I’ve designed. Being able to share my passion for visual storytelling with a wider audience is a tremendous privilege.”
