ONA sends out 70-plus youth kits

The Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) topped 70 requests for its free youth activity kit this spring.

A total of 71 young collectors aged 17 and under registered for the activity kit, each of which included five foreign coins plus five empty two-by-two holders, ONA and Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) membership forms, a questionnaire on the respective kit’s coins and more.

ONA Secretary Cassidy Stroud called it “a fun undertaking for our young collectors,” 24 of who returned the questionnaires as entries for prizes, which will be mailed to participants this spring.

“Some participants were as young as four while others were as old as 17,” Stroud said, adding each one received a prize thanks to several donations.

The donors included the Canadian Association for Numismatic Education, the Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers, Colonial Acres, Michael Joffre, Mike Johnston, Nick Semeniuk, Randy Weir and the RCNA.
