ONA offers young collectors free coins, activity kit

The Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) is offering collectors aged 17 and under a complimentary activity kit with a chance to win a special prize.

ONA Secretary Cassidy Stroud is inviting all young collectors – whether they’re members of the provincial association or not – to apply for the free kit by emailing cassidystroud@hotmail.com before March 28.

Applicants must provide a name, mailing address, age and phone number to receive five foreign “mystery coins” – to keep – through the mail. The young collectors will then be asked to research the coins’ issuing countries before answering a few questions about both the coins and the countries.

“Use resources like the Internet, books, your family or an atlas to gather the answers,” said Stroud, who’s also the national youth co-ordinator of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association.

After returning their answers to Stroud by May 30, participants will be entered to win a prize of numismatic supplies.
