New Issue: Royal Canadian Mint-struck Silver Canadian Buffalo coins

Earlier this month, the Hartford Gold Group announced it acquired exclusive rights from the Royal Canadian Mint to offer uncirculated Silver Canadian Buffalo coins to collectors and investors from the 2015, 2016 and 2017 mintage years.

These uniquely-sized 1.25-ounce .9999 pure silver coins are designed and struck by the Mint with an annual mintage of 200,000 coins. The coins’ design celebrates the proud heritage of America’s heaviest land animal: Bison bison, known commonly as the North American bison or the American buffalo.

“We are proud to bring the Silver Buffalo Coin to retirement investors, because the noble American Buffalo perfectly represents America’s own spirit: resilient, proud and free,” said Hartford Gold Group CEO Sanford Mann. “Investors seeking refuge from the overheated stock market will love this .9999 pure silver, IRA-eligible coin with important security innovations.”

The coin’s obverse features the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

All Silver Canadian Buffalo coins are IRA-eligible, and the security features include precise radial lines and a micro-engraved, lasered maple leaf in the coin field. Inscribed in tiny detail in the leaf is the number “17,” signifying the year of mintage.

While supplies last, the Hartford Gold Group will be providing wholesale pricing, free shipping and other valuable incentives to clients on these highly collectible coins. These coins also qualify for up to three years of free storage for IRA accounts.

The Canadian Buffalo coins feature Queen Elizabeth II on the face in iconic profile, designed by Susanna Blunt. On the reverse is a portrait of an American buffalo in its natural habitat by Canadian artist Vanessa Miller. Viewed from its left side, its shaggy beard, powerfully muscled, hunched back, and upturned horns are presented to stunning effect.

Silver Buffalo coins are available as single coins, in 20-coin Mint tubes holding 20 coins, and 400-coin “monster boxes.”

AMERICAN BUFFALO

For millennia, the American buffalo and its Holocene ancestor dominated much of central North America—from what is now Alaska down through the Canadian prairies and American Midwest as far south as central Mexico and as far east as near the Appalachians of the U.S.

In the tens of millions, bison wandered along ancient feeding routes so well worn that they are still visible from the air today. Many of these routes, particularly in the U.S., eventually became wagon trails and railway beds. By the end of the 19th century, though, over-hunting and large-scale exterminations by European settlers had reduced buffalo numbers from more than 60 million to only a few hundred.

Fortunately, epic conservation efforts have helped to bring the numbers of wild bison back up to over 30,000 in Canada and the U.S. today.
