The United Kingdom government is seeking innovative ideas in banknote security to make its currency more secure.
The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) – part of the Ministry of Defence – recently invited researchers or companies to submit an “innovation outline” for “novel security features and print technologies.”
The concepts must be difficult to counterfeit, simple enough for both the general public and businesses to use and carry a long lifespan. The security features must also be “compatible with high-volume printing techniques … (and) suitable for integration into a banknote design,” according to a statement from DASA.
Submissions are open until March 31.
