The archives of the newly formed Hamilton Coin Society (HSC), which held its first meeting earlier this year, was recently given a big boost by one of its more than 20 charter members, Alan Roy.
Also serving as the club’s editor and archivist, Roy donated a collection of 1960s and ’70s newsletters from the former Hamilton Coin Club (HCC), which was founded on Aug. 12, 1952.
The now-defunct HCC was chapter four of what was then known as the Canadian Numismatic Association and had 16 charter members.
At the HSC’s first meeting on Jan. 7 of this year, matchboxes issued by the original HCC in the early 1970s were also given to attendees.
