The popular Nuphilex Stamp and Coin Show returns to downtown Montreal from November 8 to 10, offering three days of excitement for both philatelic and numismatic enthusiasts.
Held at McGill’s new Residence Hall, 3625 Park Ave., the event regularly draws more than 1,000 visitors each spring and fall, making it a must-attend for seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.
With over 60 dealers from across Canada, attendees can explore a wide variety of stamps, coins, and collectibles. Show owner Emmanuel Andreou describes the event’s broad appeal: “Visitors can browse, buy, sell, trade, and even have items appraised by experienced dealers. Whether you’re expanding a collection or just starting out, Nuphilex offers something for everyone.”
The event is family-friendly, with free admission for children aged 12 and under, making it an affordable outing for all ages. In addition to stamps and coins, the show will feature various other collectibles, including gold and silver bars, tokens, medals, military items, and historical artifacts—appealing to history lovers and collectors alike.
This year’s Nuphilex will also offer a variety of educational seminars and workshops for collectors of all experience levels.
The seminar series starts on Friday at 1 p.m. with François Rufiange leading a grading banknotes presentation and workshop in the “Le Coin du Collectionneur” room. This interactive session will introduce attendees to the intricacies of banknote grading. Later, at 3 p.m., Rufiange will host a practical workshop on how to identify counterfeit coins, sharing essential tips for detecting fakes.
Saturday’s schedule opens at 10:30 a.m. with another session on grading banknotes, followed by Jonny Gauvin’s 1 p.m. presentation on error coins, exploring the complexities of this area of collecting. At 3 p.m., Rufiange will return with a session on questions, activities, and challenges, creating an engaging environment for attendees to test their numismatic knowledge. At 4 p.m., David Bergeron of the Bank of Canada will take attendees on a historical journey through Canada’s currency with his presentation on the National Currency Collection of the Bank of Canada.
Saturday ends with a 5:15 p.m. session on ancient minting techniques, presented by Louis Brousseau, offering insights into ancient coin production.
Sunday begins at 10 a.m. with another chance to participate in questions, activities, and challenges led by Rufiange. At 11 a.m., he will also discuss estate planning for collectors in a session titled “Your Will and Your Collection.”
For those interested in certification services, Friday and Saturday offer the chance to have banknotes and coins certified overnight by the Canadian Coin Certification Service (CCCS). Supervised by Louis Chevrier, this service is available for $50 per banknote in soft holders and $65 per coin in hard cases.
With 8,400 square feet of exhibition space, Nuphilex provides a lively atmosphere where collectors can meet with dealers and fellow hobbyists. Conveniently located near Place des Arts metro station, the show is easy to access for Montreal residents and visitors alike.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $7, with free entry on Sunday.
“Whether you’re a philatelist, a numismatist, or simply a lover of history, Nuphilex is the place to be this November,” says Andreou. “It’s a great opportunity to explore the world of collectibles and connect with enthusiasts from all walks of life.”
