The Government of India recently issued two gold coins marking Akshaya Tritiya, a holy day for Hindus and Jains.
A five-gram coin will depict Mahatma Gandhi and another, 10-gram coin will feature the Ashok Chakra.
On the day of Akshaya Tritiya (this year it was May 9; next year it’s April 28), it’s considered auspicious to begin new ventures; in fact, observers consider it a gold-buying festival.
