Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Silver Medal, honoring the 19th President of the United States, is now available from the United States Mint. Crafted in 99.9 percent fine silver, each medal, measuring 41 millimetres in diameter, and showcases the design by sculptor George T. Morgan.
Hayes was an American lawyer and politician who served as the president from 1877 to 1881, after serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and as Governor of Ohio.
The obverse displays Hayes’ portrait with the inscription “RUTHERFORD B. HAYES,” while the reverse features a laurel wreath and the inscriptions “PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES” and “INAUGURATED MARCH 5, 1877.” Priced at $75 US, each medal (product S819) includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
