The South Wellington Coin Society (SWCS) once again hosted its popular Guelph Coin Show with nearly 300 collectors on hand for the April 29 event.
With rainy weather throughout the one-day show, organizers reported 267 paid admissions, nine volunteers plus a handful of late-showing attendees who arrived between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The SWCS also gained two new members during the show, and overall, the dealers “were quite pleased with the turnout,” according to a statement from organizers.
The show’s dealer draw, which usually offers a bottle of Cuban rum plus 25 Cuban cigars, was changed this year to a free table at the SWCS fall show. Each dealer received a ticket for each table they purchased with dealer Gary Miller, the owner of Londinium Coins in St. Catharines, Ont., as the winner of the inaugural free table draw.
A dealer and SWCS supporter since the club started hosting shows, Miller specializes in ancient, medieval and world coins and medals. He donated the table he won back to the club in support of a youth booth at the fall show, coming Sept. 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
