As the countdown to the 2025 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) Convention continues, a series of free educational webinars is offering collectors across Canada a chance to engage with leading figures in the hobby.
Hosted via Zoom and open to all hobbyists, the remaining sessions in the RCNA’s six-part online symposium cover a wide range of topics—from museum research and private tokens to auction strategies and a dedicated French-language session.
The final three presentations in the symposium will be held July 3, 8 and 9, each offering a unique opportunity to explore different areas of the hobby.
Thursday, July 3 – Bank of Canada & Royal Canadian Mint 7 p.m. ET
Krista Broeckx, assistant curator of the National Currency Collection at the Bank of Canada Museum, will present Canada and WWII: The Almost-Banknotes of 1940 and explore why these notes were commissioned and why the redesign was ultimately abandoned. The answers may lie in the design models themselves.
Yiyi Yang, on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mint, will follow with a presentation titled Challenges and Successes of Our Diamond-Shaped Coin Series.
