Edmonton show chair David Peter recognized for ‘outstanding commitment and service’

Long-time Edmonton Numismatic Society (ENS) show chair David Peter recently received the club’s J. Wray Eltom Memorial Award for his commitment and contributions to the Edmonton Coin Show & Sale.

Billed as Canada’s largest numismatic event, the biannual show – held each spring and fall – was organized with Peter at the helm from 2009-19.

The award was launched in 1997, a year after the death of J. Wray Eltom, a prominent member and president of the Edmonton Coin Club (an earlier iteration of the ENS from 1953-77). The memorial honour recognizes the “club member of the year” based on “outstanding commitment and service” to the ENS. Each recipient receives an engraved scroll-style plaque.
