‘Canadian History Hunter’ unearths tokens

YouTube and Instagram user “Canadian History Hunter,” a metal detectorist from the Greater Toronto Area, is marking his sixth anniversary in early 2021.

Mike Dobko has been using his Minelab metal detectors – the CTX 3030 and Equinox 600 – to unearth coins, rings and other relics since 2015.

“I feel like it’s important to save history before it’s gone,” he writes on his YouTube page, youtube.com/c/CanadianHistoryHunter.

With nearly 800 subscribers, his channel has garnered more than 40,000 views across about 45 videos, most of which are focused on his metal detecting (plus a few highlighting his coin roll hunting).

Among his latest finds are 15 “GOOD FOR / 1 / QUART / HOMO / OR / STANDARD MILK” tokens, a “Ships, Colonies & Commerce” token plus a trio of buttons from a War of 1812 campsite.
