Authors’ Alley sets up in Ottawa

Dubbed Authors ’Alley, a bourse-bound book fair featured 10 of Canada’s top numismatic writers at this summer’s Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) Convention.

Sponsored by the J. Douglas Ferguson Historical Research Foundation, the book fair took place on July 22-23, when the convention’s bourse and exhibits were open to the public.

The printed books, available for sale and signing, included Raymond and Carol Gregory’s two-volume Numismatic History of Canada and the United States; Christian Houle’s three-volume Guide to Errors and Varieties on Canadian Coins; Jill Moxley and James Powell’s Faking It! A History of Counterfeiting in Canada; Serge Pelletier’s Numismatics for Everyone; Harvey Richer’s The 100 Greatest Canadian Coins and Tokens; Paul Tawrell’s Empires & Money: Gold, Paper Money, Crypto; Rob Turner’s Past and Nearly Perfect; Teresa Schapansky’s One Little Coin.

“There’s so much digital these days, but I think it’s nice to sit down and look at a physical book,” said convention committee chair James Williston, of Calgary, Alta. “The RCNA also wants to promote Canada’s numismatic writers; these authors have this passion, so it’s important to help them.”
