Earlier this summer, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) launched a podcast called “Two Bits,” co-hosted by Doug Mudd and Mitch Sanders.
A collector since age 10, Mudd served as the collection manager of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Numismatic Collection from 1991-2004 and has been the curator of the ANA’s Money Museum since 2004.
Sanders, who’s also a lifelong collector, served on the U.S. Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee from 2003-10, including five years as its chair.
In the inaugural episode, which runs nearly 20 minutes, Mudd and Sanders discuss collecting during the COVID-19 pandemic with a focus on virtual meetings, museum exhibits and “numisma-tourism” plus other online resources and research tools.
In the second episode, which is nearly 30 minutes, the hosts explore numismatic literature, including the extensive online offerings of the Newman Numismatic Portal.
Episodes three and four – both more than 30 minutes – highlight the hosts’ ranking of the “five most impressive items on display” at the Money Museum in Colorado.
