2022 RCNA convention still in planning

As of mid-January, the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) is continuing to plan its in-person annual convention slated for July 20-24 in Ottawa.

The convention committee is “closely monitoring” the COVID-19 situation in Canada’s National Capital Region, according to a statement published on the association’s website, rcna.ca.

The educational symposium is planned for July 20-21; the bourse for July 22-24; the club delegates’ breakfast on July 22; and the annual general meeting and RCNA banquet on July 23. A tentative program of events with more details will be published by the end of February.

“Regrettably, due to the pandemic uncertainties, tour/visit information will not be available until closer to the convention,” reads the online update, which adds the convention committee and RCNA board of directors are “also planning for a virtual convention should an in-person gathering not be possible.”

In both 2020 and 2021, the RCNA was forced to cancel its in-person convention due to the pandemic. Looking ahead to next year, Halifax is expected to host the 2023 RCNA Convention. The Nova Scotia capital was originally slated to host the 2020 convention.
