WINNIPEG, Man. – From educational symposiums and club meetings to a Royal Canadian Mint visiting artist, youth activities and another full day on the dealer bourse, Friday offers one of the most diverse schedules of the 2026 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Convention.
Hosted by the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association and co-hosted by the Manitoba Coin Club, the four-day convention continues at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg and the Delta Hotels Winnipeg, where collectors, dealers, exhibitors and researchers from across Canada are taking part in one of the country’s premier annual numismatic gatherings.
The day begins with the RCNA Club Delegates Breakfast Meeting, where representatives from affiliated coin clubs gather to discuss matters affecting the association and the hobby. At the same time, registered spouses will enjoy a special breakfast before the day’s activities get underway.
The RCNA Educational Symposium resumes Friday morning with its third session, bringing together collectors and researchers for presentations on a variety of numismatic topics. The symposium has become one of the convention’s signature educational offerings, complementing the bourse by giving attendees opportunities to expand their knowledge while learning from some of the hobby’s leading experts.
One of Friday’s featured attractions is Royal Canadian Mint visiting artist Janine Krauchi, who will meet collectors and autograph Mint products from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mint’s booth. The Winnipeg-based Indigenous designer contributed to the Mint’s 2025 $20 fine silver FIFA World Cup coin and the 2025 $50 fine silver National Indigenous Peoples Day coin, making her appearance especially fitting during the convention in her hometown.
The public dealer bourse and competitive exhibits remain open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., welcoming collectors and visitors to explore approximately 56 dealer tables featuring coins, banknotes, medals, tokens, bullion, books and collecting supplies. Visitors can also view competitive exhibits assembled by collectors from across Canada while meeting many of the country’s leading dealers and numismatic specialists.
Young collectors can visit the popular Coin Kids table between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., where hands-on activities introduce children and families to the hobby in a fun and educational environment. The program has become a popular feature of RCNA conventions, encouraging the next generation of collectors to discover the history and enjoyment of numismatics.
Friday also serves as one of the convention’s busiest days for specialty organizations. The Canadian Paper Money Society will hold its annual luncheon and meeting, followed by afternoon gatherings of the Newfoundland Numismatic Enthusiasts, the Canadian Banking Memorabilia Society and the Canadian Error and Varieties Numismatic Association. The meetings provide collectors with opportunities to exchange knowledge, discuss research and connect with others who share their specialized collecting interests.
The J. Douglas Ferguson Foundation will also hold its executive meeting during the day, while the convention hospitality room remains open throughout the afternoon for registered attendees, dealers and dealer assistants.
Auction activity continues Friday evening as The Canadian Numismatic Company conducts the second session of its official RCNA Convention sale. Held online, the auction features hundreds of additional lots from several important collections and consignments, offering collectors another opportunity to acquire significant numismatic material.
Friday’s activities conclude with an optional evening tour of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and its internationally renowned Inuit art collection, providing delegates with the opportunity to experience one of Manitoba’s premier cultural attractions while enjoying dinner with fellow collectors.
The 2026 RCNA Convention continues through Saturday with additional educational programming, the annual awards banquet and the final day of the public bourse and exhibits. Canadian Coin News will continue providing daily online coverage from Winnipeg, with comprehensive convention coverage appearing in an upcoming print edition.
The public is welcome to attend the dealer bourse and exhibits Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. Admission is $8.
