Several local and regional coin clubs are marking major milestones this year.
Both the Kingston Numismatic Association and Vancouver’s Mid-Island Coin Club are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2021.
Ontario’s Ingersoll Coin Club is marking its 60th anniversary while the Nickel Belt Coin Club, serving collectors in northern Ontario, has reached its 65th anniversary.
The London Numismatic Society, Peterborough Numismatic Society and Windsor Coin Club are all celebrating their 70th anniversary, and the Ottawa Numismatic Society is marking its 75th anniversary.
The Toronto Coin Club – founded in 1936, three years before the start of the Second World War – is also celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.

There were quite a few clubs that also celebrated major milestones in 2020 and like the ones mentioned in the article were not able to kick up their heels and celebrate in a meaningful and memorable way through special events and activities due to this global health crisis that has majorly impacted them.
By the time the pandemic is declared ‘over’ and in person meetings and large gatherings are permitted to resume it may be too late to organize an event. Striking a medal or issuing a souvenir on the other hand could be done but is harder to sell and promote if you can’t peddle them at meetings or coin shows.
