Final day of RCNA Convention features awards, Mint coin exchange, and so much more

WINNIPEG, Man. – The 2026 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Convention enters its final day today with a full schedule of awards, club meetings, youth activities and one last opportunity for collectors and the public to visit the dealer bourse and exhibits.

The bourse and exhibits at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving visitors a final opportunity to meet dealers, view competitive exhibits and explore a broad selection of coins, banknotes, tokens, medals, bullion, numismatic literature and collecting supplies.

The Royal Canadian Mint will also host a public coin exchange beginning at 10 a.m., when visitors can exchange circulating coins for newly issued uncirculated commemoratives.

Available while supplies last will be the new $2 CN Tower circulation coin and the $1 FIFA World Cup 26™ circulation coin, offered in both coloured and non-coloured versions. Both coins were released earlier this year and are expected to be among the most sought-after circulation commemoratives available at the convention.

The RCNA Annual General Meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Delta Hotels Winnipeg. All association members are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will include the president’s report, annual financial report and other association business.

Local and national RCNA awards will be presented during a special ceremony beginning at 12:15 p.m. The presentation will recognize achievements and contributions made by collectors, exhibitors, clubs and volunteers during the past year.

The association’s major numismatic awards will be presented later in the day during the RCNA Banquet, which begins at 7 p.m.

Among the evening’s most prestigious honours is the Paul Fiocca Award, the highest distinction presented by the RCNA and the second-highest award in Canadian numismatics.

The award is presented annually for long-term meritorious service or major contributions to the RCNA. It recognizes not only prominent hobby leaders, but also individuals who may have worked quietly behind the scenes for decades to improve the association and Canadian numismatics.

The RCNA will also name one or more members as Fellows of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association. The member service award recognizes an individual who has performed worthy service judged to be of direct benefit to the association.

Another major honour to be presented at the banquet is the J. Douglas Ferguson Award, which was established in 1969 and sponsored by Ferguson, who was honorary president of the RCNA at the time.

The annual award is presented to a living numismatist who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of numismatics in Canada through research, writing, publishing or other means, and who has not previously received the award.

Youth programming will also continue throughout the final day. The RCNA Youth Table will be open from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while the RCNA Coin Kids Junior Auction will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. All young collectors are welcome, with parents and guardians encouraged to attend as observers.

Several numismatic organizations will also hold meetings and gatherings throughout the day, including the Canadian Association of Wooden Money Collectors, Canadian Numismatic Research Society, Canadian Association of Token Collectors, Canadian Tire Coupon Collectors Club and Canadian Centennial Collectors Club.

The Canadian Numismatic Company will offer auction pickup from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the convention centre following its official RCNA Convention sale.

The day will conclude with a pre-banquet reception at 6 p.m., followed by the RCNA Banquet from 7 to 10 p.m. A post-banquet reception will run from 10 to 11:30 p.m., bringing the convention’s formal program to a close.
