It’s a big week for Canadian numismatics!
Beginning this Tuesday, July 19 and running until Sunday, July 24 is the 2016 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) Convention, held at the Delta Ottawa City Centre on 101 Lyon St. N. (between Queen and Albert) in Ottawa.
Hosted by the Ottawa Numismatic Society, this year’s RCNA Convention will feature an extensive bourse with more than 50 dealers; a highly anticipated auction hosted by New Brunswick’s Geoffrey Bell Auctions; several numismatic seminars and meetings from at least 15 different societies; a two-day educational symposium with eight speakers; and a variety of local sight-seeing tours.
Trajan Media, publisher of Canadian Coin News, will be attending the show at Table Nos. 73-74.
“In a word,” said event co-chair Steve Woodland, it’s about “fellowship.”
“Attending the convention with your colleagues and friends is really what the hobby is all about, relationships with other people who have similar interests,” he said. “Coins, medals, tokens, banknotes, books and all the rest aside, the ‘Hobby of Kings’ is really about gathering with everyone who is interested about any aspect of numismatics to talk, exchange ideas, learn, and grow together.”
