CAND warns of fake silver bars

The Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers (CAND) is issuing a warning to its members regarding counterfeit silver bars currently being offered in the marketplace.
A CAND member in the Greater Toronto Area was recently approached with these bars (see photo). Despite scanning as pure on XRF and Sigma and weighing as marked, further investigation and consultation with vintage silver collectors have confirmed that these are reproductions.
A collector in the United States unknowingly purchased seven of these bars, only to later discover they contained a lead-filled core.
We strongly urge members to exercise caution and remain vigilant. Please help spread the word to prevent others from falling victim to these deceptive pieces and those distributing them.
