Federal mediators advised that Canada Post cancelled Monday’s planned bargaining session on Aug. 25, citing the need for more time to review the union’s latest “global offers.”
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW–STTP) said it expects additional questions from the Corporation to come through the mediators and will announce a new date once the meeting is rescheduled.
CUPW, which represents more than 50,000 postal workers nationwide, has been in ongoing negotiations with Canada Post through the summer. As reported previously in Canadian Coin News and Canadian Stamp News, collectors, dealers and mail-order businesses are watching the talks closely amid broader postal changes, including evolving U.S. import rules and carrier adjustments that have affected cross-border shipping. The union has maintained a national overtime ban.
