The Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) will welcome its new executive committee during this April’s virtual convention.
This February, Ron Cheek, the chair of the ONA nominations committee, announced the three people slated to fill the group’s top executive roles effective April 10.
“All nominees have duly completed and signed the nomination form indicating their willingness to stand for the office for which they were nominated,” Cheek reported on behalf of the committee, which also includes Norm Belsten and Chris Boyer, in the latest edition of the Ontario Numismatist, the association’s bimonthly journal. “There being no other nominations, an election will not be required, and these nominees will be acclaimed at the ONA AGM (annual general meeting) in 2021.”
The incoming executive members include Sean Sinclair, who will assume the office of president; Cassidy Stroud, who’s slated for first vice-president; and Rick Dupuis, who will be the second vice-president. They’ll be joined on the ONA executive by returning Treasurer Robb McPherson.
Stroud, who’s currently serving as the ONA secretary, is forced to step down from that position because the association’s constitution precludes people from holding more than one executive position.
In addition to her secretary role, the ONA is still looking to fill the convention chair and club services positions plus one area director.
Each of their terms is slated to begin on April 10, when the ONA hosts its AGM as part of its first virtual convention.
For the second year in a row, the in-person ONA Convention was cancelled due to COVID-19.
