There are two events on the numismatic docket this week.
First up is the annual Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers (CAND) Convention, which will be held Jan. 27-28 at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel on 116 King St. W. in Hamilton, Ont. The show and bourse will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. On Saturday, admission is $4 for adults and $2 for seniors while the show is free for young collectors under the age of 12. Admission is also free on Sunday.
CAND AUCTION
An extensive assemblage of military decorations that includes one of three Military Cross (MC) decorations awarded to Major Evans Ross is expected to highlight a 400-lot sale hosted by Jeffrey Hoare Auctions in conjunction with the CAND Convention.
Among the sale’s highly anticipated offerings is Lot 45, a First World War Military Cross group of eight awarded to Ross; a “WWII Pair” and two other military medals awarded to one of Ross’ daughters; and a Second World War/Korean War group of nine awarded to Ross’ son-in-law Robert Leslie Muir. Altogether, the lot includes 42 pieces and is described as “generally VF (Very Fine).” It has an estimate of $13,000.
QUÉBEC
Also on Jan. 27-28, the Coin and Stamp Show sponsored by l’Association des numismates et des philatélistes de Boucherville will be held at De Mortagne School on 955 De Montarville in Boucherville, Qué.
