WINNIPEG, Man. – The 2026 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) Convention officially opens today as collectors, dealers and exhibitors from across Canada gather in Winnipeg for five days of numismatic education, fellowship and one of the country’s premier annual events for coin collectors.
Co-hosted by the Manitoba Coin Club, the convention is headquartered at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Winnipeg, while the dealer bourse and competitive exhibits are located in Hall A South of the adjacent RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. The convention runs through July 19.
Activities start Wednesday morning with the opening of the registration desk at 8 a.m. at the Delta, followed by the RCNA’s popular Coin Grading Workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The hands-on seminar provides collectors with practical instruction on grading Canadian coins, helping participants better understand how condition influences both rarity and value.
Meanwhile, preparations will be underway at the RBC Convention Centre as dealers and exhibitors set up for Thursday’s official opening of the bourse floor. Beginning at noon, dealers will prepare their booths while exhibitors install competitive displays showcasing rare coins, banknotes, medals and tokens. Access to the hall on Wednesday is restricted to dealers, dealer assistants and exhibitors.
The afternoon features one of the convention’s signature experiences as delegates depart the Delta at 1:30 p.m. for a guided tour of the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg circulation coin facility. The behind-the-scenes visit offers participants a rare opportunity to see how Canada’s circulation coinage is produced, along with coins for dozens of countries around the world. The facility is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Following the tour, attendees will remain at the Mint for the Royal Canadian Mint Reception, providing delegates with an opportunity to network while enjoying the hospitality of one of Canada’s premier numismatic institutions.
The convention shifts into high gear on Thursday with the official opening of the public bourse floor at 10 a.m. at the RBC Convention Centre. Open to the general public, the bourse will feature approximately 56 dealer tables offering coins, banknotes, medals, tokens, bullion and collecting supplies. Admission is $8.
