Youth Auction offers fun for kids and families

Families looking for a fun and interactive activity this weekend are invited to attend the popular Youth Auction at the National Postage Stamp and Coin Show, taking place Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale.

Designed especially for young collectors, the free event welcomes children under 16 to take part in a lively, hands-on auction experience, with parents admitted free when accompanying their children. It’s a great opportunity for families to spend time together while discovering the exciting world of collecting.

Registration takes place on-site from 12 noon to 12:50 p.m., giving participants time to preview the items before the auction begins. Each child receives play money to use for bidding on a wide variety of stamps, coins and hobby supplies. Participants can also pre-register by emailing Cassidy Stroud at coin-kids@rcna.ca.

The Youth Auction is supported by Cassidy Stroud, coordinator of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association’s Youth Program, who has played a key role in helping introduce young collectors to the hobby through engaging and educational programming. Her involvement helps ensure the event is both welcoming and informative for first-time participants.

As the auction gets underway, participants can raise their hands and experience the excitement of live bidding in a friendly and supportive setting. Winning bidders get to keep their items at no cost, making it both fun and rewarding for first-time and experienced young collectors alike.

The auction is preceded by a short workshop to help participants get comfortable with the process, and a dedicated youth table will be available throughout the weekend with activities and items designed to spark interest in the hobby.

With its welcoming atmosphere and focus on participation, the Youth Auction has become a highlight of the show, drawing strong attendance from both youth and their families. It offers a memorable introduction to collecting while creating a shared experience for parents and children.
