Collectors, dealers and hobbyists will gather in Edmonton this weekend for the spring edition of the Edmonton Coin Show, featuring a busy slate of buying, selling, educational displays and interactive events.
Hosted by the Edmonton Numismatic Society, the two-day show runs April 11 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Lions Centre, 11113 113 St. N.W.
Admission is $8 at the door, with free entry for youth under 16.
The show will offer a wide range of material, including Canadian, U.S. and world coins along with paper money, tokens, medals, bullion and hobby supplies spanning modern, medieval and ancient issues. Dealers and collectors from across Canada are expected to attend.
In addition to its bourse, the show will feature several educational and interactive elements. Free evaluations will be available for coins, medals, paper money, tokens as well as watches and other timepieces. Educational displays will also be available for both new and experienced collectors.
A youth coin auction will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with registration required by 11 a.m. at the admissions desk. The event is free and designed as an introduction to collecting and auction bidding, with all materials provided, including catalogues and play money.
A silent auction featuring more than 195 lots will also be offered to attendees.
The Edmonton Numismatic Society has partnered with Edmonton’s Food Bank and will accept donations at the admissions table throughout the weekend.
