The Week in Shows (March 4-10)

There are four major shows on the numismatic docket this week.

The Mississauga Coin and Stamp Show will be held today at John Paul II Polish Cultural Centre on 4300 Cawthra Rd. in Mississauga, Ont. Sponsored by the Troyak Club, the show will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and feature more than 30 dealers and 60 dealer tables of Canadian and world coins, banknotes, stamps and supplies.

U.S. SHOWS

The Northwest Detroit Coin Club’s 56th Annual Spring Coin Show will also be held today at the Livonia Civic Park Senior Center on 15218 Farmington Rd in Livonia, Mich. Hosted by the Northwest Detroit Coin Club, the show boasts more than 40 dealer tables as well as free admission and parking. The bourse will be open from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The National Money Show, which is being held at the Irving Convention Center on 500 West Las Colinas Blvd. in Irving, Tx., will be open from March 8-10. It’s described as the “biggest, most educational coin show in the country” and includes a live auction, lectures and seminars as well as a vast bourse.

Admission is $8 for the public but free for ANA members and children under the age of 12. Admission is also free on closing day, March 10. The show will be open on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

EDMONTON, ALTA.

Rounding out the week in shows is the Edmonton Coin Show and Sale, which will be hosted by the Edmonton Numismatic Society on March 10-11 at the Howard Johnson Hotel on 15540 Stoney Plain Rd. in Edmonton, Alta. The show will be open on March 10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on March 11 from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Admission is $5, but youth under 16 years of age are free.

The bourse will boast dealers from across Canada offering free appraisals of coins, medals, paper money, tokens, watches and other time pieces. The show will also include educational coin and medal displays, door prizes—including one for a gold coin—and a silent auction.

NEXT WEEK

Looking forward to next week, there will be two major shows on the numismatic calendar: the final day of the Edmonton Coin Show and Sale will be held on March 11, and the Calgary Numismatic Society Annual Spring Money Fair will begin on March 17.
