Waterloo Coin Society promoting club in local mall

The Waterloo Coin Society (WCS) will be looking to attract more members while promoting the hobby at large this October at the Conestoga Mall.

The WCS will man a booth on Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. near the mall’s Davenport Road Winners entrance, said Secretary Peter Becker, who’s also the editor of the society’s monthly newsletter.

“With students of all ages back to school, this busy location offers us a rare opportunity to advertise the club and interact with the public in unique way,” wrote Becker in the recent issue of the WCS newsletter. “We will be looking to attract more members local to our Region while also visually demonstrating the many aspects of numismatics.”

Becker suggested WCS members bring numismatic items – or an entire display – to share with the crowds.

“Previous volunteers have expressed that their time at the table was a wonderful learning opportunity with the bonus of getting to know fellow members in ways that isn’t always possible during our regular meetings or even at our March coin show. Consider putting your name on the signup sheet which has flexible time slots to ensure we always have a minimum of three members at the tables.”
