The Week in Shows (Jan. 6-12)

As we begin another year in numismatics, show season is set to continue for 2019.

First up for next year is the 64th annual Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Convention to be held Jan. 10-13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Organized by FUN, the four-day show will feature more than 600 dealer tables, an extensive competitive exhibition, 15 educational seminars, a children’s booth as well as a highly anticipated sale by Heritage Auctions.

Bourse hours are 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Jan. 10-11; 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Jan. 12; and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Jan. 13. The show is free to attend.

47th ANNUAL NYINC

Also later this week is the 47th annual New York International Numismatic Convention (NYINC), which will be held Jan. 11-14 at the Grand Hyatt New York on 109 E. 42nd St. in New York.

Billed as “the largest and most prestigious numismatic event in the U.S.,” the NYINC serves the needs of the world and ancient numismatic communities. The show will feature about 115 leading specialists in world and ancient numismatics and eight days of auction sessions. Public admission is $20 for a three-day pass, which is valid throughout the event. Children aged 16 and under (with an adult) are admitted free of charge.
