RCNA unveils major awards winners at closing banquet

The awards banquet of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association’s 60th anniversary convention Saturday evening came to an exciting end with the unveiling of two major award recipients.

James W. Eastwood  was given the prestigious J. Douglas Ferguson Award while Graham Esler was named the recipient of this year’s Paul Fiocca Award. The J. Douglas Ferguson award is considered the highest Canadian numismatic distinction.

The Paul Fiocca Award recognizes an individual who may have worked behind the scenes, often for many decades for the betterment of the RCNA.

Several other awards were presented during the wrap up banquet, including the naming of two new members of the “Fellow of the RCNA” — Tim Henderson and George Manz.

A complete story on the awards presentations and recipients will be published in an upcoming issue of Canadian Coin News. Hosted by the North York Coin Club, this year’s RCNA wraps up Sunday morning with a few meetings.
