New Issue: Hungarian Mint honours nursing pioneer

Minted by the Hungarian Mint, the first commemorative coins issued by Hungary earlier this year commemorate Zsuzsanna Kossuth—a pioneer of the nursing profession—on the 200th anniversary of her birth.

The coins are available in two versions—a .925 silver Proof 10,000 forint denomination weighing 31.46 grams and measuring 38.61 mm with a mintage of 5,000 pieces, and a cupro-nickel 2,000 forint weighing 30.80 grams and measuring 38.61 mm with a mintage of 6,000 pieces. Prices are $62.50 and $19.50, respectively.

The coins’ designs, by Ildiko Eross, show a scene of a military field hospital on the obverse while the reserve depicts Kossuth’s portrait.

HUNGARY’S 2017 BU SET

Hungary’s BU set includes six coins and a one-sided, 30-mm medal.

Hungary’s annual Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) set is also available now for $32.50 in a limited issue of 3,000 sets. It has the five-, 10-, 20-, 50-, 100-, and 200 forint coins plus a one-sided, 30-mm CuZn37 medal with the logo of the Hungarian Mint.
