Canadian presence at popular FUN show

Several Canadian dealers are amongst the 600 who will be on the bourse floor during the 60th annual FUN Convention, which gets under way today in Orlando.

The popular FUN (aka the Florida United Numismatists) Show opens to the public at 10 a.m. today at the Orange County  Convention Center.

Canadian Coin News is at the four-day show along with other Canadian dealers, including: Canadian Coin and Currency; the Canadian Numismatic Company; and Charles Moore. There are also several Canadian dealers, without booths, and collectors attending the show.

“The show theme this year is “Sail Into History,” commemorating the 300th anniversary of the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet sinking in a hurricane,” said FUN President Tony Swicer. “Eleven ships sank, only artifacts from six ships have been recovered.”

Swicer says the show also features several educational symposiums and “a huge auction this year which includes millions of dollars worth of coins and currency.”

Last year’s auction sales grossed $91 million.
