The Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS), which promotes writing in Canada’s most populous Atlantic province, has ordered its latest gold medal for this year’s Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award.
Established in 1991 using an endowment from U.K.-born Canadian author Thomas Raddall – the recipient of three Governor General’s Awards and an Officer of the Order of Canada – the annual award includes a gold medal plus a $30,000 prize.
Halifax jeweller Chris Shute produced this year’s medal, which will go to a novel or a book of short fiction written by a full-time resident of Atlantic Canada. It’s one of five book awards, each with their own medal, administered by the WFNS each year.
