West Edmonton Coin & Stamp co-hosting coin exchange this weekend

The Royal Canadian Mint and West Edmonton Coin and Stamp are co-hosting a coin exchange at the West Edmonton Mall this weekend featuring the recently released circulation coin honouring the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Dated 2022, the new $2 coin features a black outer ring serving as a mourning band to honour the queen’s more than 70-year reign. It bears all the traditional design elements of a standard $2 coin and it began circulating in December with nearly five million coins.

A maximum of two coins per person can be exchanged while supplies last. The exchange opens at 10 a.m. on Jan. 21 and runs until 4 p.m. before reopening on Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
