This week’s numismatic shows begin in southwestern Ontario.
Today in London, Ont., is the London Numismatic Society (LNS) Annual Show. Being held at the Ramada Inn on 817 Exeter Rd., the show will feature displays as well as dealers specializing in coins, medals, banknotes and tokens. The bourse is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and admission is only $2.
GUELPH FALL COIN SHOW
Later this week, on Sept. 24, is the Guelph Fall Coin Show at Colonel John McCrae Legion Branch 234 on 57 Watson Pkwy. S. Sponsored by the South Wellington Coin Society (SWCS), the show boasts free parking as well as a low admission of only $3 (although children 16-and-under are free). In addition to what organizers are calling a “legendary lunch counter,” there will also be a free draw for a gold coin.
The bourse will be overflowing with coins, banknotes, tokens, Canadian Tire money, medals, books and supplies at more than 35 dealer tables staffed by some of Canada’s top numismatic dealers. There will also be a club-sponsored Kid’s Table for attendees under 14 years old.
SOUTH WELLINGTON COIN SOCIETY
The SWCS is fully run by its members in a “co-operative and collaborative environment” that focuses on fellowship as well as education (in fact, the society’s current President Scott Douglas is also the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association’s education chair). The society, which was founded in 1997, hosts two coin shows each year as well monthly meetings throughout the summer. Regular club membership is only $10 and can be completed online here.
